California man charged with multiple counts after being stopped on Ohio Turnpike
6/16/2011SWANTON — A California man is facing multiple felony charges after Ohio Highway Patrol troopers stopped him Wednesday on the turnpike and seized drugs and weapons from his vehicle.
Mark Parker, 52, of Citrus Heights, Calif., is charged with two counts of drug abuse, one count of trafficking in drugs, and carrying a concealed weapon — all third-degree felonies. He also was charged with improper transportation of a firearm and drug paraphernalia and possession of a scheduled IV substance, all misdemeanors.
Troopers on Wednesday seized six pounds of marijuana, four grams each of methamphetamines and hashish, 34 illegal prescription pills, three handguns, and two assault rifles.
The suspect is being held in the Lucas County jail; if convicted he faces up to 20 years in prison and up to a $40,000 fine.
