Toledo Police are investigating the shooting of an 18-year-old South Toledo man early Sunday.

Police said Marquan McCuin, of 317 Daniels Ave. was found about 1:09 a.m. Sunday lying in an alley off the 1100 block of Gordon Street. The victim had apparently been shot and was pronounced dead at the scene, a police report said.

According to the report, witnesses saw a man fleeing the area.

Mr. McCuin’s girlfriend, Sharita Murphy, who said she is three months pregnant, told The Blade that Mr. McCuin had called her just minutes before he was shot and said he was riding a bicycle back from a 7-Eleven store just over a block away from where they lived.

Mr. McCuin’s mother, Rosie Phillips, said in a Blade interview that her only son was working toward a GED, and had not been to school since completing 10th grade in 2010.
