A 32-year-old man was shot twice early Thursday in central Toledo.

Talven Highsmith was shot about 1 a.m. in the back and a bullet grazed his cheek, police said.

The man told police that he was in the 1800 block of Ray Street when he was robbed and shot by two men in all-black clothing.

The man was taken to Toledo Hospital in a car driven by Lawrence Carter, who was not injured.

He is the eighth person to be shot in Toledo since July 1 and the 35th person to be shot since June 1.
