MONROE -- Two Detroit-area men remained in the Monroe County jail Wednesday night pending extradition to Toledo on charges relating to the smash-and-grab robbery of a jewelry store.

Ronald Mason, 22, of Melvindale, Mich., and Allen Adams, 23, of Detroit, were charged with robbery, Toledo police Det. Sgt. Patrick Skinner said.

During the robbery Tuesday afternoon, two men smashed open a display case at J. Foster Jewelers at Westfield Franklin Park and escaped with two loose diamonds.

The two suspects were arrested on northbound I-75 near I-275 about five minutes after the alert went out by a Monroe County sheriff's detective. The diamonds were recovered, Sergeant Skinner said.
