MONROE -- A Lenawee County man has been charged with vehicular homicide in the weekend accident on I-75 that killed a 17-year-old Detroit girl.

Monroe County prosecutors said Thursday that a complaint was filed in District Court against Timothy Proskie, 31, of Britton, who drove his pickup for nearly four miles in the wrong lanes of northbound I-75 before the head-on collision with a car driven by Jazzmine Cierra Pringle.

She was pronounced dead at the scene. Her passenger, Tori Bianca Toliva, 17, was treated at Oakwood Southshore Medical Center in Trenton, Mich. The girls, cousins, were returning from Cedar Point. Miss Pringle was a recent graduate of Northwestern High School and enlisted in the Army.

Michigan State Police said Mr. Proskie reportedly entered the highway on Ford Street, north of South Rockwood, and continued south until the accident near Ready Road in Berlin Township. Officers said he is being treated for leg injuries.

Police said they found several cans of beer and liquor around the pickup and a half-full beer keg inside.
