OHP’s drug-detecting dog dies after illness
7/23/2011The Ohio Highway Patrol lost a trusted drug-detecting canine after the 9-year-old dog died following a brief illness.
Cheisa was stationed at the Findlay patrol headquarters and worked with the patrol since 2004. Born in The Netherlands in 2002, Cheisa was trained and certified in the detection of marijuana, heroin, cocaine, methamphetamine, and their derivatives. Cheisa and her handler, Trooper Ryan Stewart, assisted various federal and local law enforcement agencies.
During her tenure, Cheisa helped troopers seize $16,539,736 in recovered assets and illegal drugs, according to the patrol.
