MONROE — A 20-year-old Monroe man is being held on suspicion of a stabbing that occurred early Sunday, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s department said the suspect is at the Monroe County Jail on charges of assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder.

Detectives said that the 23-year-old male victim, whose identity was not being released, was found at a home in the 3100 block of Elmwood Drive in Woodland Beach at 3:25 a.m., and was taken to a Oakwood Southshore Medical Center, Trenton, Mich., where he was admitted to the intensive care unit.

Detectives later in the morning executed a search warrant at another residence in Woodland Beach, in the 3300 block of Beechwood Drive, and took the suspect and two other people, a 19-year-old female from Ida, Mich,, and an 18-year-old male from Woodland Beach, into custody. They also seized a knife allegedly used in the assault, detectives said.
