Toledo police Monday were searching for a suspect in a central city shooting, authorities said.

Tevin Redd, 18, of Norwood Avenue was shot Sunday night and taken to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center with what did not appear to be a life-threatening injury, Toledo police Sgt. Phil Toney said. A hospital spokesman said she had no information about a person by that name.

A witness told police the victim was walking in a field off West Woodruff and Forest avenues about 6 p.m. when a two-door lime-green car with three men in it went over the curb and stopped by him. The witness reported then hearing several gunshots and seeing the victim stagger as the vehicle sped off.

The victim told police he did not know who shot him or why, Sergeant Toney said.
