Police hope to identify man through tattoos

Authorities look over the area where a body was found Tuesday on North Stadium Road near Willacker Road in Oregon, Ohio.

The body of a white male, age unknown, was found about 11:30 a.m. Tuesday in a ditch in the 1900 block of North Stadium Road in Oregon.

A couple from the Cleveland area was riding bikes on a trail in South Shore Park when they stopped so the wife could make a phone call. The husband, a retired police officer, glanced over a short concrete wall and saw a pair of legs sticking out of the water, according to authorities.

The couple flagged down an Oregon police officer who was driving by.

Acting Police Chief Paul Magdich said the body was taken to the Lucas County Coroner’s Office, where an autopsy is expected within the next few days.

Chief Magdich said that at this point, investigators “are not suspecting anything” and that the city of Oregon does not have any reports of missing men. Investigators will check with surrounding communities, he said.

The body was found in two to three feet of water.

On the man’s upper left arm the man has a tattoo of a red heart with a black outline. The tattoo, which is missing letters, starts ‘Jen’ and finishes with ‘lle.’ There is a black four-point star above the heart tattoo, said Oregon police Sgt. Tim Zale.

On the man’s right upper arm there is a black tattoo of a naked woman.

Sergeant Zale said those were the only tattoos investigators immediately found. The man was wearing blue jean shorts and a black T-shirt with an American flag on it.
