MILAN, Mich. -- Authorities are searching for three men wanted in connection with an overnight home invasion in this community in northern Monroe County.

The men kicked in the front door to an occupied home on North County Line Road near Smith Road, south of Milan, Mich., about 4:15 a.m. Thursday, according to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office.

A father and son were home at the time, and the intruders hit the father over the head with a weapon, deputies said.

The victim suffered a gash on his head, but refused treatment. The son was not injured, according to the report.

The men reportedly took an undisclosed amount of items from the house, then escaped in the victim's vehicle, a black 2003 Mazda Protege.

The men, considered armed and dangerous, were described as three men, two white and one black, with two of the men about 6 feet tall and 180 pounds, authorities said.

There was no word of arrests Thursday morning.
