LIMA, Ohio —A woman and her dog died in a crash late Monday night when the two were ejected from the vehicle.

Tamara Jacks, 52, of Gomer, Ohio, and the family pet were killed in the crash, which occurred about 11:30 p.m. on Gomer Road near Bussert Road, according to the Lima post of the State Highway Patrol.

Mrs. Jacks was southbound on Gomer when her 1994 Ford Probe went off the left side of the road, striking the pole and a culvert before going airborne. The vehicle went across Bussert and into a yard before rolling several times, ejecting Mrs. Jacks and the dog.

Mrs. Jacks was pronounced dead by the Allen County Coroner at Mercy St. Rita’s Medical Center.

Authorities said it was unknown if alcohol played a factor in the crash, but troopers are waiting on results from a blood-alcohol test. Mrs. Jacks was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, authorities said.
