Toledo police had not named any suspects nor made any arrests Sunday night in the shooting of a mother and son at a South Toledo apartment complex.

Jashon Veasley, 4, and 34-year-old Sandra Felder were shot at 10:43 p.m. Friday at Byrneport Apartments in the 800 block of Byrneport Drive off Airport Highway, according to a Toledo Police Department report.

The mother and son were shot when a robbery victim tried to flee into their home, according to police reports. Christopher Henry, 28, who also lives in the pair's Byrneport apartment, was approached outside the building by three men. Two of the men wore black sweat suits, and a third, taller man wore a gray hooded sweatshirt.

The boy was in critical condition at Toledo Hospital on Saturday; a hospital spokesman had no information on a patient by that name Sunday.

Ms. Felder was shot once through both legs, and her son was struck in the abdomen. Ms. Felder was released Saturday night from Toledo Hospital, a hospital spokesman said.

The men asked Mr. Henry if he knew whether another man lived in the apartment; when he said no, they assaulted him and stole $200 from him. Mr. Henry fled the men, according to police reports, and tried to run into the apartment. The man in the gray sweatshirt pulled out a black semiautomatic pistol and shot at him.

A bullet went through the front door, striking Ms. Felder and her son.

A witness saw the three robbers flee through a playground, and shortly afterward saw a dark-colored minivan speed away.

Mr. Henry was arrested because he had several warrants, including two involving drugs.

A neighbor's window was shot out in the incident.

Anyone with information about the shooting is encouraged to call Crime Stoppers at 419-255-1111.
