Toledoan, 32, shot walking on east side

Toledo police Monday were investigating the shooting of a Toledo man the night before on the city’s east side, authorities said.

Cavelli Carter, 32, was treated at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center for a gunshot wound in the left leg, according to Toledo police.

The victim told police he was walking home from a store about 8:10 p.m. Sunday in the 500 block of Earl Street when he saw a group of people standing by a garbage bin and heard gunshots.

He said he then realized that he was shot, and at the same time saw them running away, police said.
