Officer Joseph Petro, 32, the driver, and Officer James Taylor, 40, were treated at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center, police said.

According to the traffic crash report, Officer Petro said he was southeast bound on Cherry about 6:20 a.m. when he saw a vehicle that matched the description of one reported stolen.

On the curve approaching Collingwood, he reached down to turn the channel on his police radio and went off the road and into a pole, the report said.
