Police at the scene of a double shooting at 121 Ravine Park Village in Toledo.

A man was shot and killed, and another person wounded Thursday night in a robbery and home invasion at an East Toledo public housing complex.

Police said the victims were among four people inside an apartment in Ravine Park Village when as many as five people entered the unit about 8 p.m. and began shooting.

Toledo police Sgt. William Wauford said a 31-year-old man was shot and killed.

The death was the 23rd homicide in Toledo this year, and the second fatal shooting this week.

Sergeant Wauford said another man was shot and was taken to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center, where he was undergoing surgery Thursday night.

Sergeant Wauford did not provide the names of the victims.

Tia Crosby, a resident of the complex on Poplar Street south of Seaman Road, said the man killed in the shooting lives in the home with his girlfriend and their two children, a boy and girl under the ages of 4 years old.

“He was a very loving, caring person. He would give you the shirt off his back. He was a real good person,” she said.

She said the other victim, who she only knows as T-row, is a Toledo native who was currently living in Sandusky.

Sgt. Wauford said two other people were in the apartment when the intruders entered, and the number of suspects ranged from two to five. He said witnesses said the suspects might have been wearing masks.

Police were also told that the suspects were wearing dark colored clothing.

Darnell Townsend-Tall, 37, was shot inside 339 Weber St. Monday night. He was pronounced dead at the scene and authorities are still seeking suspects in his death.
