In a two-day period, the Toledo police narcotics unit, with the help of outside agencies, executed 22 search warrants and seized thousands of dollars in drugs.

Officers confiscated $23,160 in illegal drugs — including $14,000 in marijuana, pills, heroin, and cocaine. They also confiscated 12 firearms, $17,000 cash, and a 2011 Chevrolet Suburban, said Toledo police Sgt. Joe Heffernan.

During the sweep, done Wednesday and Thursday, 28 people were charged with 40 felonies and 27 misdemeanors. Citations, summons, or arrests were made for two outstanding felony warrants and 51 outstanding misdemeanor warrants, the sergeant said.

“We went after people who we knew were actively selling drugs and likely to have firearms,” Sergeant Heffernan said.

The sweep was done in conjunction with the Metro Drug Task Force and the Northwest Ohio Drug Enforcement Agency.
