A person has been shot during an apparent street robbery in central Toledo, and city police have at least one suspect in custody.

The robbery was reported at about 1:40 p.m. and quickly changed to a report of a person shot in the 500 block of Dexter Street.

Toledo police Sgt. Joe Heffernan said the victim, who was walking down the street when he was accosted by two men, suffered gunshot wounds to the legs that were “not immediately life-threatening.” He was taken to an undisclosed hospital.

Two people were detained — one of them apprehended by police at gunpoint — within 20 minutes or so of the call. Another person who was near the scene fled upon seeing police. Sergeant Heffernan said police were still trying to determine the potential roles for those who had been detained and the third man who fled.
