Marblehead man killed as vehicle strikes tree
12/28/2011PORT CLINTON — A Marblehead, Ohio, man was killed when the car he was driving struck a tree off Northwest Catawba Road early Tuesday, the Ohio Highway Patrol said.
Chris Bradford, 57, was pronounced dead at the scene in Ottawa County’s Catawba Island Township, according to the patrol. He was driving south on Northwest Catawba about 12:55 a.m. when, authorities say, he drove off the right side of East Mooresdock Road, then overcorrected, causing the car to run off the left side of the road and strike the tree. He was not wearing a seat belt, according to the patrol.
The crash occurred about 10 miles northeast of Port Clinton, which is about 40 miles east of Toledo.
