A small apartment fire Monday morning caused evacuation of a South Toledo public housing complex for the elderly, authorities said.

There were no injuries, according to the Toledo fire department.

Fire crews arrived about 7 a.m. at 5836 Southwyck Blvd. and found the fire at the second-floor of the six-story apartment building. The building's sprinkler system extinguished the fire within about two minutes, firefighters said.

The building has 102 living units, according to Lucas County records. Built in 1977, it is owned by the Lucas Metropolitan Housing Authority.

The cause of the fire was under investigation. Damage estimate wasn’t available.
