MONROE -- Monroe County sheriff's deputies need help in solving Tuesday's fatal hit-and-run crash.

Authorities said Brian Tucker, 21, was lying in a northbound lane of Jackman Road, a half-mile south of Erie Road, just before 9 p.m. when he was struck by a vehicle.

Authorities said a witness reported nearly hitting Mr. Tucker, but was able to swerve and avoid him. The witness told police her husband got out of the vehicle to warn an oncoming motorist, but before he could, a light-colored, midsized car hit Mr. Tucker.

Police said Mr. Tucker's body was caught underneath the vehicle for "quite a distance" as the vehicle continued northbound on Jackman.

Authorities said it's possible the driver may not have known he or she ran over Mr. Tucker. Police want to interview anyone who was traveling in the area of Jackman, Temperance, and Erie roads in Bedford Township between 8 and 9 p.m. Tuesday.

Anyone with information is asked to call traffic services at 734-240-7768 or dispatch at 734-243-7070. They also may call Michigan Crime Stoppers at 1-800-773-2587.
