VAN WERT, Ohio -- Three people were injured Saturday, at least one seriously, when two vehicles collided at State Rt. 116 and Ringwald Road in Van Wert County’s Ridge Township.
Troopers at the Van Wert post of the Ohio Highway Patrol said that Morgan Pugh, 17, of Venedocia, Ohio, was southbound on Ringwald about 6 p.m. when her vehicle failed to yield to a vehicle driven by Eileen Manken, 56, of Van Wert, which was eastbound on Route 116.
The Manken vehicle was struck on the right side, troopers said. Both vehicles traveled off the southeast corner of the intersection, struck several signs, and rolled several times before stopping in a field.
The Van Wert and Middle Point fire departments freed Ms. Manken from her vehicle. She and her front passenger, Charles Johnson, of Van Wert, were taken to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne, Ind. A hospital spokesman said there were no conditions for patients by those names.
Ms. Pugh was taken to Van Wert Hospital and later flown by medical helicopter to Parkview, where she was listed in serious condition late Saturday.
The crash remains under investigation.
