It’s been almost 24 years since anyone has reported seeing Emily Michelle Sawyer.

But the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children has not given up, and is hoping that anyone with information about her will call its hot line at 1-800-843-5678.

It was April 1, 1988, when the then 5-year-old girl was reported missing by her father, Dan Sawyer — the girl’s parents were nearing the end of a contentious custody battle.

Blade archives indicate that Mr. Sawyer went to his ex-wife’s home at 124 E. University St., after Emily spent the Easter holiday with her mother, but found the house vacant.

Mr. Sawyer won custody of his daughter about a week after the reported disappearance.
