LINDSEY, Ohio — The state fire marshal’s office officials Wednesday ruled the cause of a fire in a mobile home in the Sandusky County village of Lindsey as undetermined.

Jared Marker, 34, suffered serious burns and was taken to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center, Toledo, where he remained in critical condition Wednesday.

Suffering smoke inhalation were Leola Charles, 33, who was taken to Physician’s Choice Hospital in Fremont, along with Alannah Charles, 13; Adrian Williams, 11, and Alexander Marker, 4. All were treated and released.

The fire was reported at 1:30 a.m. Tuesday at the residence in Apollo Mobile Home Park, on State Rt. 523.

Investigators said they found no evidence of criminal intent. The fire, which destroyed the mobile home, originated in the living room at or near an electric space heater, but a definite cause could not be determined, fire officials said.

Smoke alarms were present but activation was unknown, said investigators from the state and the Lindsey Fire Department.
