PETERSBURG, Mich. — A man convicted in Illinois of sex offenses involving teenage girls was apprehended Wednesday by U.S. marshals at a home south of Petersburg for failing to register as a sex offender.

Deputy Kevin Pettit, spokesman for the U.S. Marshal’s office in Detroit, said Correy Rymers was arrested on a warrant at a home on Lulu Road where he had been living with a woman who had two teenage daughters.

Deputy Pettit said after Rymers was released from prison in Illinois, he moved to Ohio, where he was charged with failing to register as a sex offender. He then moved to the home in Monroe County’s Summerfield Township.

Rymers made an initial court appearance in Detroit Wednesday and will return to the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District on Thursday for a detention hearing, Deputy Pettit said.
