2 hurt in West Toledo fire

Two people were injured in a house fire in West Toledo early Friday, authorities said.

The victims, whose names weren’t available, were taken to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center, according to the Toledo EMS. They suffered smoke inhalation, according to the Toledo fire department.

All occupants had escaped from the house by the time fire crews arrived about 7:28 a.m. and found fire in the back bedroom of a two-story wood frame house at 4219 Burnham Ave. Firefighters attacked the blaze and got it under control by 7:40 a.m., according to the department records.

The damage estimate was unavailable. The cause of the fire was under investigation.

The Lucas County Auditor’s Web site lists Tina Schneider as the owner of the house. It was built in 1912.
