Police Thursday night issued a warrant for a Toledo man accused in the shooting of a 32-year-old North Toledo man earlier that afternoon.

Kiron Renfroe, 20, no address available, is charged with felonious assault.

Police said Duron Bell was shot at least twice about 4:20 p.m. at Stickney and Bronson avenues near a carryout, although five or more shots were fired. One shot struck Bell near the heart and another in a hand, but the injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, Sgt. Bill Wauford said. A Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center spokesman had no information on a patient by that name.

Police said Bell was found nearby in the 700 block of East Central Avenue, near AP gas station, across from Woodward High School. The motive was not yet clear Thursday night, but Bell and Renfroe are “somewhat loosely acquainted,” Sergeant Wauford said.

Since Sunday, 11 people have been shot within city limits.
