Man shot in leg in North Toledo

A Toledo man was shot Monday night in north Toledo by one of several men who were trying to rob him, authorities said.

Marcus Davis, 24, was treated at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center and released, Toledo police Sgt. Phil Toney said. A hospital spokesman said she had no information about a person by that name.

The victim told police several men approached him about 9:48 p.m. in the 3200 block of North Erie Street, asking for cash. When he handed them his cell phone instead, one of the men shot him in the leg; the assailants then fled, Sergeant Toney said.

There were no arrests in the case, police said.
