A teenage girl was arrested early Wednesday and accused of knocking down and then running over her boyfriend with a car in East Toledo a short time before, authorities reported.

Gregory Meadows, 22, was taken to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition, a hospital spokesman said. The driver, whose name was being withheld, was arrested and booked into the Lucas County Juvenile Justice Center, Toledo police said.

Police responding to a traffic crash report arrived about 12:03 a.m. in the 400 block of Fourth near Euclid Avenue and found an unresponsive male victim trapped under a car that was stopped in the middle of the street. A fire crew arrived a short time later and freed him from the wreckage, police said.

The driver of the car told police the injured man was her boyfriend. The couple had been seen arguing in the street just before the man was seen lying on the ground in front of the car and then under the car, officers wrote in their report.
