ROCKY RIDGE, Ohio — An emergency medical worker was taken to a hospital by medical helicopter Friday night after being trapped for more than 30 minutes in an emergency vehicle that rolled over on State Rt. 2 in Ottawa County’s Benton Township.

The destination of the helicopter was not reported.

Another person was taken by ground transport to Magruder Hospital in Port Clinton, authorities said.

Neither person was identified.

Initial reports were that a North Central EMS vehicle was eastbound at Lickert-Harder Road about 9:55 p.m. when a trailer from a westbound vehicle came loose and struck it, causing a rollover.

The vehicle was returning from a run and was not carrying a patient, authorities said.

Route 2 remained closed at 11 p.m.

Troopers from the Sandusky post of the Ohio Highway Patrol and sheriff’s deputies were investigating. Crews from the Allen-Clay Joint Fire District and Carroll Township helped with the rescue.
