Bond was set at $750,000 Monday for a 21-year-old man accused of fatally stabbing his female roommate late Sunday, authorities said.

Charles L. Toyer, Jr., of 1527 Western Ave., was arraigned in Toledo Municipal Court on a murder charge in the stabbing death of Tiffany Wilborn, 23. He was ordered held in lieu of the bond at the Lucas County jail without an option to post 10 percent of the bond and be released. His case was continued to Tuesday, according to jail records.

Shortly before midnight Sunday, Toledo police received a report of a person stabbed at the home at the Western Avenue address. Once they arrived, officers learned the victim had been rushed by Life Squad to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead, police said.

The suspect was taken to police headquarters for an interview, after which he was charged with murder and booked into the Lucas County jail.

“They weren’t getting along for some reason,” Sgt. Phil Toney said. “It turned physical and she turned up stabbed.”

The victim was stabbed in the upper body with a steak knife, Sergeant Toney said. He did not say where the victim and the murder weapon were found.

According to police reports, the victim and suspect lived together and have a child together, Sergeant Toney said.

An autopsy was scheduled later Monday; the time of death was under investigation, according to the Lucas County Coroner’s Office.
