1 killed, 1 hurt in North Toledo shooting

A 27-year-old man was shot to death Wednesday night and a woman injured when someone shot into the vehicle they were in on the 3200 block of Maple Street in North Toledo, police said.

Ed R. Taylor III, address unknown, was pronounced dead at the scene. Wounded and taken to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center was Kristian Scott, 24, address unknown, who was a passenger in the car. Authorities said her injuries do not appear life threatening.

The shooting occurred at 10:23 p.m., when the two possibly were shot at by someone in a vehicle that witnesses saw drive away from the scene, although no official description was released, police said Wednesday night. Initial reports via the police scanner indicated the vehicle was a maroon Chrysler.

Early Thursday, police were unaware of a motive. No arrests have been made.

This is the second homicide this week in Toledo, the fifth this year.
