Ottawa Co. man charged with child rape
3/16/2012PORT CLINTON -- An Ottawa County grand jury handed up an indictment Thursday against a Salem Township man on rape and pornography offenses after a multiagency investigation.
Alan L. Ault, 48, is charged with two counts of rape with specifications the victim was under 10 years old and 29 other felony counts, including pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor, pandering obscenity involving a minor, and illegal use of a minor in nudity oriented material.
He was arrested Tuesday after investigators with the Ottawa County Sheriff's office and the Ohio Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force seized multiple computers containing images and videos of nude children, Prosecutor Mark Mulligan said.
Mr. Ault is also accused of engaging in sexual conduct with a juvenile female whose photo was found in one of the computers, the prosecutor said.
He is being held without bond in the Ottawa County Detention Facility.
