Oregon man shot in arm in robbery in E. Toledo

An Oregon man was shot Thursday in East Toledo in what appeared to be a botched robbery, authorities said.

Anthony Ruiz, 30, was taken to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center, with gunshot wounds in his arm and wrist, Toledo police said. A hospital spokesman had no information on a condition.

The shooting occurred about 2:55 a.m. at Essex Street and Mott Avenue. The victim told police two men approached him on the street, demanded cash and his belongings, and then shot him, police said. The victim then fled to a nearby house of a family member, according to the report.
