MONROE — Two teenagers were injured when a group of dogs attacked the pair as they tried to enter the house of a friend in Monroe County’s Frenchtown Township, authorities said today.

The attack in the 3300 block of Lakeview street was reported at 7:34 p.m. Saturday.

Frenchtown Township Fire Chief Mark Nicholai said four or five dogs attacked the girl, 15, and boy, who was in his late teens, at the house of a friend. Their names were not released.

Chief Nicholai said the dogs were “pit bull” types that attacked the pair on the porch.

The boy was treated for soft tissue injuries at the scene and the girl, who also suffered numerous soft-tissue injuries, was taken to Mercy Memorial Hospital, he said.

Sheriff’s deputies said the dogs were to be quarantined in the house and the case was turned over to the animal control officer.
