A Toledo man who was accused of leading Lake Township police on a chase Tuesday on I-280 and the Ohio Turnpike was released from jail Wednesday, authorities said.

Gregory Baldwin, 36, of 1457 N. Huron St., was released about 8 p.m. from the Wood County jail after posting a $20,000 bond on drug-related charges and a $500 bond on an earlier unrelated misdemeanor charge, according to the Wood County Sheriff’s Office. He was arraigned earlier in the day in Perrysburg Municipal Court on drug possession and drug trafficking charges, as well as multiple traffic charges according to court records.

He was arrested about 3:05 p.m. Tuesday when police said he crashed his vehicle in a ditch off the Ohio Turnpike after leading Lake Township police on a chase that started on southbound I-280 near the Perrysburg exit in Lake Township. The chase started when the driver refused to step out of his vehicle during a routine traffic stop, police said.

Officers then seized four plastic bags of cocaine, three bags of marijuana, and a bag with three cell phones from his vehicle, according to the police report.

His next court appearance has not been set yet.
