Psychiatrist accused of sexually assaulting patient in Monroe

MONROE — A Mercy Memorial Hospital doctor, accused of sexually assaulting a patient, was arraigned today in Monroe County District Court.

Dr. Abdullahi A. Mohamed, 58, of Dearborn Heights, is charged with two counts of criminal sexual conduct — one being a felony and one a misdemeanor. He is being held in the jail in lieu of a $100,000 cash bond.

Authorities said that, on Saturday, a 26-year-old woman reported that she was sexually assaulted by her psychiatrist while at his Stewart Road office, according to Michigan State Police.

Dr. Mohamed was arrested on Tuesday.

Troopers describe Dr. Mohamed as a staff physician at the hospital; they also said they have been in contact with hospital administration and that they are cooperating with authorities.
