Toledo man indicted in separate shootings

A Toledo man charged in separate shootings that resulted in the death of one man and injuries to others was indicted Thursday by a Lucas County grand jury.

James Sutton, 21, of 2646 Christie St., is charged with one count of murder and three counts of felonious assault, each with gun and gang specifications. If convicted, he faces up to life in prison.

Mr. Sutton is charged in the April 15 shooting death of Torian Tall, 25, who was shot behind a Valero gas station in the 3300 block of Monroe Street. He also is charged with felonious assault for allegedly shooting into a crowd in the 100 block of South Byrne Road on Feb. 19, striking Brent Cook, 24, and Dennis Garrett, 20.

He was arrested April 20 in Eau Claire, Wis., and extradited to Ohio. He is in custody in lieu of $1.2 million bond.
