A fire early Friday that raged through two vacant houses on Mulberry Street in North Toledo was ruled an arson, Toledo fire authorities said.

The fires at 816 Mulberry and 812 Mulberry were reported just before 1 a.m.

Both buildings, which had been boarded up, were total losses, Battalion Chief Jim Aldridge said.

They were owned by William McGee, according to Lucas County auditor's records.
