A fire of a yet undetermined origin destroyed a vacant house in Toledo’ Old South End early today, authorities said.

There were no injuries, according to the Toledo fire department.

Fire crews arrived at 5:30 a.m. and saw heavy flames coming from a two-story wood frame house at 257 Field Ave. near Western Avenue, firefighters said. Fire crews doused the flames and prevented them from spreading to the neighboring houses, but the building was a total loss. It was torn down by 10:28 a.m., at which time firefighters left the scene.

The cause of the fire was under investigation. The damage estimate wasn’t available.

The Lucas County auditor’s Web site lists G.M.I. Toledo, Ohio LLC as the owner of the house. It was built in 1872.
