Man reported dead after tree crushes vehicle

A man has reportedly died after a tree fell on his vehicle during severe storms that barreled through western Lucas County.

During the storm, which moved through at about 3 p.m., Lucas County sheriff's deputies and emergency workers responded to a report that a tree had fallen on South Dorcas Road in Springfield Township -- perhaps on a house, perhaps on a vehicle.

WTOL-TV, Channel 11, media partner of The Blade, reported late Thursday that a man who lived on the street left his house as the storm was approaching to move a newly purchased vehicle. A tree fell on the vehicle while the man was inside, and he man died, WTOL reported, citing a sheriff's office representative.

His name was not released.

Authorities would not comment on the death.
