Findlay man, 62, killed in crash

FINDLAY — A Findlay man was killed this morning when his car went off the road and struck a fence and a utility pole on U.S. 224 just east of Findlay.

Joseph Vogel, 62, was pronounced dead at Blanchard Valley Hospital where he was taken after the crash.

According to the Ohio Highway Patrol, Mr. Vogel was driving eastbound on U.S. 224 near Westwood Road at 5:37 a.m. when he drove off the right side of the road, struck a fence, and then a utility pole. It was unknown whether he was wearing a seat belt.

Troopers said alcohol was not believed to be a factor in the crash.
