2 Toledoans injured, 1 critically, in crash

Two Toledo men were injured, one seriously, when the vehicles they were driving collided late Sunday at a street corner near the central city, authorities said.

Keith Hopings, 51, of Kevin Place, was listed in critical condition at Toledo Hospital, where Lamin Overton, 32, of Norwood Avenue, was released after treatment, a hospital spokesman said.

The crash occurred at 10:14 p.m. at Upton Avenue and North Cove Boulevard, according to police.

The Overton vehicle was stopped at a red light on northbound Upton at North Cove when it was struck in the rear by the Hopings vehicle. Both vehicles then crossed the intersection, with the Hopings vehicle striking a curb and then a utility pole guide cable, police said.

There was no word of citations.
