Arson investigators were working the scene of a house fire that left a person homeless in West Toledo today, authorities said.

There were no injuries, according to the Toledo fire department.

The occupant, whose name wasn’t released, wasn’t in the house at 1727 Wychwood St. when fire crews arrived at 4:43 a.m. after a police crew reported the fire, Toledo fire Lt. Larry Armstrong said.

Once at the scene, firefighters saw flames coming from the single-story wood frame structure, attacked the flames, and extinguished the fire by 6:41 a.m., at which time they left the scene, Lieutenant Armstrong said.

The American Red Cross Greater Toledo Area Chapter later assisted the occupant with accommodations, the fire lieutenant said.

The cause of the fire was under investigation. The damage estimate wasn’t available.

The Lucas County auditor’s Web site lists Stephen Eaton of Toledo as the owner of the house. It was built in 1925.
