A tractor-trailer rig crashed onto an exit ramp along northbound I-75 in Toledo Tuesday morning, injuring the driver and spilling diesel fuel, authorities said.

Truck driver Gary Chamlee of Monroe was taken to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center, where he was treated for what police said were minor injuries.

Mr. Chamlee's rig was hauling vehicle parts north on I-75 about 8:10 a.m. when he lost control near the Berdan Avenue exit. The rig struck another vehicle before going through a guardrail and down a slope onto the ramp, where it landed on its side.

An ambulance assisted at the scene while police closed the exit and cleared debris from northbound I-75. Diesel leaking from the rig's 200-gallon tank was contained within about 15 minutes.

Mr. Chamlee was cited for an improper lane change, police said.
