Republic woman killed when car hit by train

SYCAMORE, Ohio -- A Republic woman was killed  when her car was struck by a train in Sycamore.

Shelly A. Cleveland, 41, was killed in the collision, which occurred at 2:15 p.m. on Tuesday, the Ohio Highway Patrol reported today.

Authorities said Ms. Cleveland was northbound on State Rt. 67, near State Rt. 103 when she failed to heed the railroad crossing lights and was struck by a Wheeling & Lake Erie train that was traveling westbound. The incident remains under investigation.

Sycamore is located 77 miles southeast of Toledo or 28 miles east of Findlay.
