Firefighters douse debris with water after a semi truck trailer caught in the 1500 block of Water Street Wednesday.

A truck trailer parked next to a warehouse in the 1500 block of Water Street along the Maumee River near the Craig Memorial Bridge caught fire Wednesday.

Firefighters used a Toledo Fire Department fire boat to pump water from the river to douse the trailer, which was engulfed in flames when crews arrived at 5:30 p.m.

It took firefighters about 30 minutes to get the blaze under control. The trailer was packed with cardboard.

Firefighters kept the fire from spreading to the adjacent building at 1500 Water St., where newsprint owned by The Blade is stored.

Toledo fire Lt. Brian Henry said the owner of the trailer was unknown and the cause of the fire could not be determined.
