Toledo police Wednesday were looking for assailants involved in an incident in which they say a Toledo man was shot in the stomach and another was robbed on the city's east side.

Jarrett Livingston, 23, was taken to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center with critical injuries, said Toledo police spokesman Sgt. Joe Heffernan. The hospital said it did not have a patient by that name.

Samuel Myers, 21, told police he and Mr. Livingston were walking on 6th Street near Platt Street at about 2:10 a.m. Wednesday when they were approached by two men who threatened them with a gun, went through their pockets, shot his companion in the stomach, and fled.

Mr. Myers told police his wallet and debit card were taken.
