City police seek help solving June slaying

Toledo police are hoping someone can help them solve a homicide that occurred in June.

Omar Sutton, 19, of Walnut Street, was found fatally shot June 20 in the central city, police said.

Several people were shot in gunfire that erupted at 2:14 a.m. in the parking lot of Remy's Gentlemen's Club, 707 Matzinger Rd. during an altercation. Their injuries weren't life-threatening injuries, police said.

A short time later, Sutton showed up at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center with other people who had been at Remy's when the incident occurred, according to a hospital spokesman. Authorities said he caused a disturbance in the emergency room and was escorted out of the building by a public safety officer.

At 3:35 a.m,, Sutton was found at Collingwood Boulevard and West Bancroft Street suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken in a private vehicle to Mercy St. Vincent, where he was pronounced dead at 3:48 a.m. He died of a single gunshot wound to his chest, according to the Lucas County Coroner's Office.
