A body pulled Wednesday night from the Maumee River in downtown Toledo has been identified as that of Robert Brennan, 59, of Findlay, authorities said.

Toledo police said there was no apparent evidence of foul play. Firefighters recovered the body near Water Street and the Martin Luther King, Jr., Bridge about 8 p.m. Wednesday in response to a call from a Grand Plaza Hotel employee who saw it floating.

Police later found Mr. Brennan's locked car parked nearby on Water. His identification, keys, and credit cards were inside.

Authorities said his wife told police the last contact she had with him was about 5 p.m. Wednesday when he was on his cell phone.

An autopsy is to be performed today by the Lucas County Coroner's Office.
