Toledo police responded late Friday to three armed robberies in East Toledo that occurred in a span of about an hour.

The Sunoco gas station at 1540 Front St., was robbed at 9:50 p.m. The Subway restaurant at 648 Main St. was robbed at 10:38 p.m., and Wally's Stop and Go, 551 E. Broadway, was robbed at 11:08.

In all three robberies, a man brandished a dark-colored handgun and demanded the contents of the cash registers. In all three robberies, the suspect was described as a black man who wore a dark hooded sweatshirt and a dark bandana or handkerchief. In the last two robberies, witnesses said he wore blue latex or surgical gloves.

He left with an undetermined amount of cash.

At the store in East Broadway, the robber first pointed his gun at customers and said, "Get back. Y'all are cool," according to police. As he tried to walk out of the store, a customer hit him in the back of the head. The suspect ran, and the customer tried unsuccessfully to catch him.

Police had no one in custody Saturday.
